Hi Everyone!

My name is Terri. I work for HRCP (Human Resource Certification Preparation, L.C.) and have for the past eight years. I re-certify by exam every three years. Least you think I'm crazy, ALL of us here at HRCP re-certify by exam so we can ensure the study materials we provide cover the topics being tested on the actual exam. My certification expires at the end of the year, so I will be preparing to take the exam in December.

Every day I answer questions regarding certification, so if you have any questions or need any assistance, please let me know. I'm here to help.

In hard economic times, many who are preparing for the HR certification exams can't afford expensive preparation courses and resort to self-study. I want to reassure all of you who are preparing on your own, YOU CAN DO THIS! I hope you will find this Online Study Group to be beneficial to your preparation.

Hello everyone!

My name is Patti. I am studying for the PHR exam. I am using Distinctive Human Resources study materials. The package includes CD's, on-line video's, games, flash cards and tests. I found the materials to be very helpful. I especially like that they support different ways of learning. I also plan to purchase Certgear's online test along with the HRCP's test.

My HR background is 5 years as a generalist along with 9 years in learning & development. I was laid off from my job in Nov., so I've had a lot of study time already. Hopefully, this certification will help me land that dream job!

I am open to days/times.

I look forward to learning from everyone.

Patti

Hi, my name is Dee and I'm very excited about this Winter 2010 Onlne Study Group. I am preparing for the PHR exam. I contemplated the SPHR, but figured I'll start with PHR and perhaps get my SPHR at a later date. I have been in HR for about 8 years and have worked my way up, like most of us, from HR admin, to recruiter, to a generalist and the past 4 years I have been an Employee Relations Consultant. I still touch on other areas of concentration in HR like a generalist would, but my primary focus is ER. I have wanted to get my PHR for years now, but something in life always pulled my focus elsewhere. Well not this year, I'm focusing on me, my career and knowledge of my profession. I'm determined to pass the PHR this year and am really excited to get started. I can't afford the training materials, so I am doing self study (with your help hopefully) and taking some webinars that my company offers bi-weekly from the end of February thru the end of May. So I'm hopeful, by mid June when I take my exam, I will be ready to do this!! I'm available Sunday-Thursday evenings mostly, if something doesn't come up with work - so I'm open to what we all can work out together. I wish you all luck and hopefully this study group will give us the guidance and tools we need to become experts in our career and earn the HR certification that gives us bragging rights!

Hello, My name is Michael. I am studying for the PHR exam. I have already registered and hope to take it in late May/June time frame. I look forward to all the information and interation in this course. I am in the military and l have been working in HR for about 5 years and the military for 16 years. My biggest thing is learning about the private sector of HR which I am real weak in that area. I hope to even share my military experience as well.

Looking forward to the study group.

Michael

Hello everyone!

My name is Sam, and I actually just passed my SPHR on December 1st 2009 - I took a prep course through The Close Group in Seattle, which was amazing - and led to really cool discussions! So, I figured that I maybe I could hang around here and jump in on some of the topics! My background is my BA (Hons) in HR, 1.5 years as a technical recruiter with a large staffing agency, and then I moved to my current company - nearly two years as the Employee Relations Manager and now just moved into the HR Manager role. I am very fortunate to have a job I love, and I really enjoy anything on policy and law. :)

Hi there fellow HR Professionals!

I am so looking forward to working with this group! I am taking my SPHR on May 8, 2010. I am long time HR Professional with a strong background in not for profit, education and retail. I focus primarily on employee relations and risk management. Currently I am doing some fabulous HR Consulting for a number of companies. My focus with them tends to be in COBRA, FMLA and employee handbooks - all kinds of fun.

Lets get going and pass this beast!!

Best,

Randi

Hi, I'm Diane. I passed the PHR in June, 2009, and failed the SPHR January 21, 2010 by 3 points! I plan to take the SPHR again in June. I have the SHRM Learning System (2008) and use the Distinctive HR Cds. They are great.

I look forward to meeting everyone and helping all obtain our objectives.

Hello All:

My name is GP and I am studying for the SPHR. I passed the PHR in 2008, took the SPHR last window (Jan 31) and was unsuccessful. I used the Distinctive HR CDs and a 2005 LS. I have been in HR for more than 10 years at an operational level and wish to secure a position that is more strategic, hence the SPHR.

I am free to participate on weekends (Friday evening into Sunday morning). The best times on Friday are after 7 p.m. and I can be flexible on Saturday. Sunday must be mornings or no later than 2 p.m. During the week, I must dedicate to my 6 year old and his homework.

Thanks for creating this FREE study group!

GP

Hi Everyone! I am preparing to take the PHR exam in May. I am studying from the SHRM Learning System. Unlike alot of you I only bring with me about two years experience in the field and that was in the Staffing Industry. Prior to that I had about 15 years experience working in manufacturing. I do have a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and a Master of Science in Management. Unfortunately I was laid off from my job and am hoping that passing this exam will help me find a good a position. I am really excited about having this study group and think that it will be beneficial to us all!

Hi, my name is Patty. I'm planning on taking the SPHR exam in June. I've taken it before, but was unsuccessful. I'm hoping this on-line group will be the key to passing it this time. I have an AA degree in Business Management and a BS in HR Management. I've been in the HR field for about 25 years. I've worked for the same company most of my career. My current position is HR Manager, but I also handle payroll administration and some general office management as well. I'm mainly using the SHRM 2006 Learning System and the Anne Bogardus PHR/SPHR Study Guide.

I looking forward to studying with all of you.

My name is Nathan and I am planning on taking the test during the May/June testing window. I have been working as an HR Generalist for a little over a year and recently finished my masters in business administration. I will be testing as a recent grad until I complete the required amount of experience. Good luck to everyone preparing. I will be using the HRCP study materials with whatever supplements I get my hands on.

My name is Niki and I am planning to take the PHR exam during this spring testing window. I have worked primarily as a civil servant employee in HR and have recently started a position as an analyst in a not-for-profit organization. Totally different worlds. I have over 12 years experience in the field and earned my Master of Public Administration in '96. Jeez, I'm getting old! Hoping that this online group will provide me with the support I need. Thanks and good luck to all of us!

Hello fellow HR professionals.
I had my PHR certification for 6 years, then let it lapse so i could pursue my CEBS, since I was a FT Benefits Analyst. I left that to return to HR a year ago, and think it's time for me to take the plunge and try for the SPHR. I've worked in HR for the past 12 years, working my way through the HR specialties as so many of us have - admin, benefits, worker's comp, recruiting, training, consulting, and now as an HR manager for a large retail organization. I look forward to lots of pithy diaglog with this group.
Sincerely,
Lauren S.
